A dedicated group of people have volunteered to serve on
the Facilities Needs Team that has been in operation for
several months. They have been working hard to discern what
would be the best solution to St. Paul's present and future
needs for expanded and growing ministries.
The team has recognized that St. Paul Lutheran Church, like
the community of Treynor itself, leads with active
children's and youth programs. These ministries respond to
the needs of young families in our community.
After exploring numerous options, the team has come to the
conclusion that simply adding on to or reconfiguring our
present building is not the best solution for our
congregation's needs. Nevertheless, they do see a need to
continue to use our current building to house several key
ministries of the congregation. In particular, the
children's and youth ministries will be developed in the
current building. This intentional decision will continue
to use our current building in a active role in the
ministry, and still allow for the congregation to reach
into the future.
Currently the team is exploring the feasibility of building
a new building on one of two proposed sites. One site could
be on land that would be purchased just south of the
present church and preschool. The second option being
considered to to build on land owned by the Kirk &
Kelby Vorthmann families. This land is in the city limits,
on the south side of Highway 92, on the west edge of
Treynor.
With the assisstance of Jim Nord, our congregational
consultant, the team has chosen a preliminary design for
the new building. See the links below for considerations
that have been made. Please keep our growing ministry in
your prayers. Keep praying for the work of our Facilities
Needs Team as they seek to understand the best use of
opportunities we have been given to share the love of Jesus
with our neighbors. Ask God to help us to come to a
God-pleasing decision on these matters.
